Sue Morelli

Sue Morelli brings four decades of multi-unit operating experience to Phoenix3 Holdings. She is a strategic leader who enjoys growing differentiated businesses and building shareholder value. Her career is characterized by success rooted in strong financial acumen, deep relationship skills, and a track record of growing people alongside profits.
Sue served as Au Bon Pain’s CEO from 2005 to 2016. During that time, she led a successful management buyout to expand into premier hospitals, universities, transportation hubs and urban centers throughout the country and abroad. She retired from Au Bon Pain in 2016 but was recruited back in 2018 by Panera Bread when they acquired the company. Under Panera’s ownership, Sue and her team achieved record financial results, successfully integrated into Panera’s corporate infrastructure, and helped convert certain Au Bon Pain locations to the Panera brand.
Sue currently advises Solgen Capital, a sector-focused private credit fund manager investing in lower middle-market healthcare companies. She has board and advisory experience in food, healthcare, education, and child welfare. From 2017 to 2022, she advised Anagenesis Capital Partners. Sue served on Au Bon Pain’s Board from 2005 – 2016 and Legal Sea Foods’ Board from 2017 – 2020.
Sue holds a BA in Economics from Yale University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
